FEB OUT!

It's been a busy month! I've been all over the country with shoots, and although I've been working hard to focus on my video skills, I've managed to nab a couple of snaps that I'm excited to share with you!

I'll kick it off with a visit to one of my favourite places in the greater Kruger area: Chacma Bush Camp. This gem is located on the Maseke Reserve near Phalaborwa. It hums with elephant and lion sightings and is a really beautiful lodge to visit, since the waterbody in front of the main chilling area attracts loads of animals. Most notable the big grey ones with the long noses. It offers an excellent opportunity to get close up pics of these amazing animals!

Great getting close up to the big foots.

Reflections of a Bushbuck.

Back to the Klaserie! I was driving with legendary Africa on Foot guide Enoch (AKA: Ngwenya) when a lion kill sighting was called in over the radio. We shot up to take a look and found the 'River Pride' feasting on a Buffalo carcass. Made up of females and developing males, this pride is easily recognisable with all the young faces. We watched them enjoy their breakfast for a good hour before leaving them in peace.

Down time with the River Pride.

The lions weren't the only ones drawing attention. One cloudy Friday morning (also while on drive with Ngwenya) we nabbed a sighting of one of the most ridiculous and lovable birds of the low veld: the Saddle-Billed Stork. He came to greet us from on high, perched atop a tall tree, allowing us to marvel at his multi-coloured magnificence!

Classic. It's the Saddle-Billed Stork of Banging Friday Good Fortunes and General Wild Weekend Excellence!

Another week of my February life was spent in the Karoo. We drove from Hoedspruit to Kroonstad, Kroonstad to Graaf-Reniet and then to Roam Private Game Reserve - nestled in the wilderness between Prince Albert and Beaufort West. En route, we stopped to take in the Valley of Desolation.

Things we saw in the Groot Karoo.

One of the best things about Roam Private Game Reserve is the sunsets. I didn't take many pics out there (I was too busy shooting video of the lodge and surrounds) but I did nab one spectacular sunset while out on an evening game drive and I hope I did it justice!

Swear the sky actually looked like this.

On our way home, we stopped in at Tiger Canyons to visit some Cheetah that are to be released at Roam in the near future. Despite Tiger Canyons being an entirely weird and off-putting place, seeing the Cheetah up close was amazing, I look forward to seeing them thrive in the Karoo!

Spotty Bois.

In the last week of my cycle before I went on leave to Cape Town, I visited the Waterberg where we stayed at Bushwa Private Game Lodges. The highlights here were the massive herd of very chilled buffalo, the incredibly habituated Sable Antelope and the marvellous vistas that we could take in from the comfort of the bar at the lodge.

Bushwa Bruh.

Lastly, in an undisclosed location, I got to spend some time with this darling duo: mother and daughter White Rhinos. They slept, they walked, they ate... And most importantly, they posed in the golden light of the day for the pics below.

Tread carefully xxx

That's a wrap for my Feb. I hope yours was as exciting!
